New Update for Google Search app on iOS

Posted May 31, 2013 by .Omar Correa in News

Google just submitted an update to their Google Search app in the iTunes App Store today. This is version 3.0.1 with the following changes:

3.0.1: Location improvements and bug fixes
3.0.0: Answers before you ask with Google Now

Google Now’s location updates don’t require GPS.
Google Now updates your location to pinpoint the info you need. So, the location icon stays on. However, updates don’t require GPS and have minimal impact on your battery because:
• Cell Towers & Wi-Fi provide location updates.
• If battery gets low, location updates pause.
• The App stays asleep until you move – a lot.

New and improved controls give easy access to location settings. Just tap the location icon in Google Now to manage Location Reporting.

Looks like Google has heard the comments from users about battery consumption and feels they have the solution. Let us know what you think once you update your app on your iPhone.
