The new 70D also introduces a new Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, a larger 20.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor, and a DIGIC 5+ image processor as well as built-in Wi-Fi. ┬áDual Pixel CMOS AF is a refined autofocus technology that uses two separate photodiodes in each pixel to provide fast and smooth intelligent focusing with full STM lens support. Enhancing this focusing system is the 3.0″ 1,040k-dot vari-angle Clear View II touchscreen LCD monitor with Touch AF control for precisely setting points of focus in the scene.

The image sensor and processor work in conjunction to produce high-resolution stills, full HD 1080p movies, and a fast continuos shooting rate of 7 fps. The ISO expands to 25600 for increased low-light shooting versatility. In-camera Wi-Fi enables direct linking to mobile and networked devices for instant sharing. The updated EOS Remote mobile app will provide remote control and monitoring capabilities.
